GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) on Thursday sealed three properties for delay in the payment of outstanding property tax of Rs 28 lakh. While one property owner has pending dues of Rs 12 lakh, the other two defaulters have to deposit Rs 8 lakh each.

“We have sealed three commercial buildings for the non-payment of their property tax dues. One of the buildings is located in Shanti Nagar while the other two are in Basai area. The taxation department has started the drive to seal properties of the property tax defaulters,” said Vijay Kapoor, zonal taxation officer.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government has also announced an exemption of 25% on the property tax for the 2021-22 fiscal year if paid by September 30. Moreover, an additional 10% of rebate will also be given for this year till September 30.

The civic body had estimated revenue worth Rs 1,103 crore from the property tax alone in the 2020-21 fiscal year, however, only Rs 250 crore of income could be generated.
