A group of surveyors, hired for three months through a private agency, have been formally inducted in the official drive on Monday.
Aparna Thete, the in-charge of the tax-collection section of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), said a minimum of around 4.5 lakh to five lakh properties are expected to be taken on the official record during the exercise of GIS mapping as against existing 2.8 lakh properties.
“We have been carrying out the drone survey of properties, and the official report is expected by January 26. In addition, the surveyors hired by ASCDCL will pay a door-to-door visit to assess property details. The combination of the results from the drone survey and spot visits would be utilised for preparing a fresh database of properties,” she said.
Thete said, nearly 70% of the drone survey work is already done.
As per the procedure charted out by authorities, the appointed surveyors will hand over the forms to citizens, seeking the property details and personal information along with the Aadhaar card and PAN details. The collected data will be uploaded in a special mobile application devised for the GIS mapping.
“The revised and accurate assessment of properties will not only help the civic administration in improving the collection of property tax but also in providing different basic amenities and infrastructure,” Thete said.
